EMDR:
Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing

When negative or traumatic events happens, the memories seem to get frozen in the nervous system and stored dysfunctionally in your brain. Because they get locked in this manner, negative thoughts and feelings  arise and negatively impact your life. These thoughts and emotions can easily be re-triggered by current situations that remind you of the original painful experience. This leads you to avoiding situations that trigger these uncomfortable feelings. It can also lead to other problems such as depression, anxiety or stressful relationships.

I use EMDR to help clear up the memories, reprocess feelings, release the associated sensations and the attached negative belief. Your brain naturally comes to a resolution and brings in a new adaptive belief, which can relieve the sensitivity. The belief is that individuals inherently move towards health and wholeness.

EMDR uses eye movements with an integrative treatment approach. The process may be similar to what happens in REM or dream sleep, which may be time in which your brain processes unconscious material.
